Article 3 : Insulting the companions – Shaykh Fawzan

  • by

Question :

May Allah reward you, is insulting the companions and especially (Abu Bakr) the truthful and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them all, is disbelief ?

Answer :

Insult the companions or any of them is disbelief and hypocrisy. Only an hypocrite and a disbeliever can hate them. It is not permissible to hate them. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said :

Narrated Abu Sa`id:

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said, “Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah’s Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them.

[Bukhari 3673]

Loving them is a way of loving the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) and hating them is a way of hating the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم).
